Call for Nutrition Communication Fellows (2)

The “National Centre of Excellence and Advanced Research on Diets (NCEARD)” is a technical assistance resource centre to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India on research, policy and programme support for strengthening coverage and quality of nutrition services in preconception and pregnancy via MoHFW antenatal care contact points. Funded by UNICEF India, NCEARD was established in 2018, within the Department of Food and Nutrition at Lady Irwin College, New Delhi with the following objectives :

  • To test the operational feasibility and challenges of strengthening maternal nutrition services in routine antenatal care and Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA)

  • To guide consensus-driven policy needs on preconception and maternal nutrition and diets for Maternal Health Division, MoHFW, Government of India, through policy briefs and seminars

  • To act as an apex food skill lab/reference lab for development and standardization of local recipes for behaviour promotion and awareness on diets in preconception and pregnancy

  • To design and conduct diets and maternal nutrition training programmes for medical/paramedical professionals

  • To develop and test simplified counselling tools for management of maternal malnutrition in primary health centre/community health centre and health and wellness centres

  • To generate evidence on nutritional status of pregnant women and relate it with birth outcome

Areas of work for Fellow (1)

  • Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram – For campaigns and dissemination of NCEARD’s communication resources)

  • Providing assistance in making films and videos (Assisting the communications team in shooting and editing videos)

Qualification : Post-graduate degree or PG Diploma holders in Mass Communication/English/ Development studies/Journalism

Duration & Fellowship : INR 15,000 per month for 3 months

Areas of work for Fellow (2)

  • Literature Review and support in content development

  • Mapping of school/colleges/SNF fellows for implementation of Weekly iron folic acid supplementation (WIFS)

  • Assist in coordination with schools in Delhi and Haryana

  • Supervising and accompanying SNF fellows to schools

  • Assist in development of IEC material/communication aids

Qualification : Post-graduate degree or PG Diploma holders in Food and Nutrition/Food Technology/Public Health/Food Science.

Duration & Fellowship : : INR 15,000 per month for 6 months.

The fellows will be under the supervision of Administrative Lead, Head of the Department (Food and Nutrition), NCEARD, Lady Irwin College
