Capsular Course on Nutrition Epidemiology: Module 3- Nutritional Assessment Methods

The third module of the course- Module-3: Nutritional Assessment Methods- was conducted at Lady Irwin College during 26-29 August 2019. This module aimed at broadening knowledge in techniques of nutritional assessment to make more informed decision in selecting the appropriate tool in the field of research and enabling interpretation of nutrition and dietary data, taking into account the strengths and limitations of different assessment techniques.

Overall 29 participants including healthcare professionals, nutritionists, researchers, doctoral and post graduate students completed the course and were awarded the “certificate of attendance”. Four senior professors from Lady Irwin College, Dr Anupa Siddhu, Dr Manisha Sabharwal, Dr Pulkit Mathur and Dr Neena Bhatia were key facilitators to deliver the course contents to participants. The specialized sessions were conducted by renowned experts in their respective fields like Mrs Gurdeep Kaur (AIIMS), Delhi, Dr Shweta Khandelwal (PHFI), Dr Madhavi Bhargava (YMC Mangalore), Dr A Laxmaiah NIN, Telangana and Dr William Joe (IEG). The topics included nutrition assessment methods, converting dietary measurements into indices, overview of WHO Anthropic and AnthroPlus, clinical and biochemical assessment techniques, assessment of food composition databases and interpreting and evaluating dietary data.
